RUDSETI APPROACH

RUDSET institute has developed short term models of appropriate training, which can bring in required changes in attitude, skills and knowledge of unemployed youth. The uniqueness of this model is the short duration of training coupled with long hand holding support. The trainings are executed in such a way that they improve self confidence, reduce fear of failure and develop a mindset capable of managing change. Further, the handholding support sorts out the teething problems in setting up of the enterprises and strengthen confidence in them.

3.0 Philosophy of RUDSETI

The Entrepreneurship Development in rural youth has to take place by stimulating their psyche followed by bringing in the appropriate technology, training and credit with in their reach.

The entrepreneurship development can take place in short duration intervention if properly designed. It does not begin from ‘Zero’ level. Generally the younger generation would have gained some experience in their real life situations and this serves as a launching pad for accelerated learning during training. It is therefore possible to train the youth in a short period of 1 to 6 weeks to bring in positive attitudinal changes resulting in increased self confidence, awareness, understanding, knowledge, skill and higher self motivation.

The training would be effective if it is residential. The campus approach helps the participants to improve their attitude, human relations and change their perceptions for the better. The duration of the learning in this approach goes beyond the stipulated hours without force or coercion as the trainees are self motivated and stimulated powerfully.

 To motivate and develop confidence in unemployed youth.
 To identify, orient, train, counsel and assist young people to take up some self-employment ventures by providing all possible assistance to them.
 To promote rural entrepreneurship
 To enhance the effectiveness of poverty alleviation and self employment schemes of the Government and the Bank.
 To promote counseling and project consultancy services
 To train village level workers to work in rural development.
 To take up research and development in rural entrepreneurship and rural development.

RUDSETI’S MODEL IN PROMOTING ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Foreseeing the above context, a humble initiative in mitigating the unemployment problem was taken up way back in 1982 by “Rural Development & Self Employment Training Institute” acronym RUDSETI with the joint efforts of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Educational Trust, Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank as the sponsors under the visionary leadership of Padmabhushan Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, has today become a replicable model for the benefit of the unemployed youth across the country. RUDSETI’s core offering is its free, unique and intensive short term residential self employment training programmes with free food and accommodation. A practical orientation and rigorous training with escort service are some of the distinct features of RUDSETI.

The target group of RUDSETI is the unemployed youth in the country, who need to be motivated and guided to act on their own.

The salient characteristics of this group are

- Low self motivation
- Fear of failure
- Inferiority complex
- Lack of awareness about business opportunities available in the environment
- Lack of knowledge regarding support system available for launching of new enterprises.

Aims and Objectives of Rudseti type institutions

RUDSETI--- HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

U n employment is a big problem in a contry like india. It is increasing year after year.There is another problem of underemployment also.mainly there are three types of unemployed persons.
1)wage employment seekers who are graduates / post graduates etc
2)middle group who are school/ college droppers
3)lower group who are either illeterate or having no knowledge/ skill for generating income(mostly below poverty line group)
with an aim of mitigating unemployment from the youth a new initiative was tried jointly by sri sri 108 Manjunatheswaraeducational trust, Syndicate Bank and Canera Bank at Dharmshala in Karnataka.An institute namely "RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND SELF EMPLOYMENT TRAINING INSTITUTE" was estabilished in the year 1982. Later on govt. of India idetified the good results of the institute and recommended for estabilishing such institutes all over the country.

What is rudseti and what are it's special features

It is an approach through which youth are infused with entrepreneureship by stimulating their psyche followed by training and credit need within their reach.
The entrepreneureship development can take place in short duration interventionas. It does not begin withn zero level It is therefore possible to train young people in a short period of 1 to 4 wweks to inhance and enlarge increased awareness understanding knowledge skill and formation of positive attitude.
A training is more effective if it is residencial. As such all rudseti institutes are asked to be residencial institutes.The duration of working hours can be stretched in this approache.
Rudseti generally covers behavioral aspects technological aspects and skills to launch and manage an enterprise.
Post training support to trainees are the most distingushed feature of rudseties. It gives maximum importance to this functionand spares almost a quarter of time to follow up trainees.It coordinates with other agencies influecing the seting up of self employment ventures. viz. Banks , Govt. departments .
